Job summary

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to design, develop, and implement production processes for the fabrication of parts, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies in the machine shop.

The role requires CNC machining knowledge, reading blueprints, and familiarity with GD&T and DoD standards. Candidates should be prepared to work extended hours and travel as needed; DoD clearance may be required.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelor's in engineering or a related technical field.
  • General understanding of manufacturing engineering concepts and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to learn quickly and organize work to meet timetables.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience reading engineering blueprints and MIL-Standards.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
  • Hands-on experience a plus; ability to obtain DoD clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain methods and processes for fabrication of parts and assemblies.
  • Conduct tests to control variables and resolve manufacturing problems of moderate scope.
  • Designs production operation sequences and tooling layout to optimize fabrication.
  • Collaborate with product design engineering on technical specifications and equipment use.
  • Estimate manufacturing costs and establish time standards.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and maintain records of manufacturing operations.
  • Document findings and communicate results to staff; maintain confidentiality.
