Job summary

Marotta Controls, Inc. in Montville, NJ seeks a hands-on Machine Shop Manager to oversee machining operations, throughput, equipment maintenance, and quality assurance.

You will directly manage workflow for customer orders, collaborate with Shop Leads on tooling and fixtures, and uphold safety and cost-efficient production. Responsibilities include process optimization, daily scheduling, capacity planning, and enforcing first-piece inspections, final audits, and NCR resolution.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a technical field or a technical school certification.
• 10+ years’ experience in machine shop environment (aerospace/defense).
• 3+ years supervising 10+ CNC and manual machinists.
• Proficiency with CNC and manual equipment.
• Experience producing high-tolerance parts.
• Lean/Cellular manufacturing experience and AS9100/ISO familiarity.
• Strong verbal and written communication across levels and stakeholders.
• MS Office usage and applicable systems/equipment familiarity.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Oversee machining operations, throughput, maintenance, and quality assurance.
• Directly manage workflow of customer work orders with shop leads.
• Ensure safety, schedule attainment, and cost-effective production.
• Lead process improvement, tooling planning, and fixture design.
• Collaborate on program prove-outs and on-floor troubleshooting.
• Conduct daily alignment meetings and manage capacity planning.
• Implement first-piece inspections and final audits.
• Oversee labor tracking and performance evaluations.
• Drive data-driven KPIs and reporting.
