Human Active Technology (HAT) is seeking a Manufacturing Manager – Machine Shop to lead the daily operations of our Machine Shop. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production while ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals are consistently achieved. As the primary operational leader for the department, you'll drive continuous improvement, develop high‑performing teams, and create a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

Based in our Easton, PA headquarters, the Manufacturing Manager – Machine Shop will oversee the daily operation of the department while driving performance, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the day‑to‑day operations of the Machine Shop, ensuring work is properly prioritized, resources are effectively aligned, and customer commitments are met.
  • Take full ownership of end‑to‑end machine shop production, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and driving improvements in quality, throughput, cost, delivery, and overall operational performance.
  • Serve as the primary authority for shop operations, including production planning, scheduling, capacity planning, resource allocation, tooling, and workflow optimization.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, respect, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement throughout the department.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop production employees to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching discussions, employee development meetings, and corrective action when necessary in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Address employee concerns, resolve workplace conflicts, and provide ongoing feedback, recognition, and support to encourage employee growth and engagement.
  • Enforce company policies, operational standards, and safety requirements while promoting a positive, productive, and respectful work environment.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate waste, improve workflow, increase efficiency, and strengthen overall operational performance.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and company software systems to analyze production data, monitor department performance, communicate effectively, and support operational decision‑making.
  • Partner closely with Operations leadership to build a highly engaged, well‑organized, and continuously improving manufacturing operation.
  • Review and approve employee payroll, timecards, attendance, and paid time off requests.
What We're Looking For
  • Associate degree in Business, Management, Manufacturing, Organizational Leadership, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, team lead, military leadership, or manufacturing management experience preferred.
  • Experience working in machining, welding, fabrication, manufacturing, or a skilled trades environment required.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach employees, hold team members accountable, and professionally manage difficult conversations.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams) and the ability to quickly learn manufacturing software and digital tools.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, continuous improvement, employee development, and operational excellence.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
