Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience leading or managing engineers or technical teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of product development and commercialization processes.
  • Advanced experience with CAD and engineering analysis/FEA software.
  • Strong technical drawing and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to use mechanical hand tools, simple power tools and mechanical test equipment.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to delegate effectively and hold others accountable for results.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to use data to support engineering and business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the engineering team through product development and commercialization.
  • Oversee multiple development projects while managing your own engineering projects.
  • Develop and maintain product drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Perform mechanical analysis and evaluate designs for performance, manufacturability, cost and reliability.
  • Apply knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to identify design solutions.
  • Lead product lifecycle activities, including design validation and testing.
  • Develop innovative mechanical concepts and encourage problem-solving across the team.
  • Provide technical direction and ensure products meet quality and performance standards.
  • Support development and debugging of production lines with Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Collaborate with Quality to maintain product integrity throughout lifecycle.
  • Provide final approval of tooling and parts as required.
  • Project & Commercialization Leadership: Provide project management oversight to meet milestones and deliverables.
  • Establish project priorities, timelines, resources and deliverables across the team.
  • Create RFQs and maintain cost analysis through product release.
  • Ensure components pass first article inspections.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes and execution.
  • Coordinate external engineering resources and vendor partners.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Industrial Design, Marketing, Sales, Sourcing, Quality, Manufacturing and other teams to bring products to market.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and influence cross-functional decisions.
  • Communicate status, risks and recommendations to leadership.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Description

Human Active Technology (HAT) is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team and drive the development and commercialization of innovative products from concept through production.

This role combines people leadership, mechanical engineering, project management and hands‑on product development. The Engineering Manager will oversee a team of product development engineers while also contributing directly to engineering projects. You will work closely with Industrial Design, Marketing, Sales, Sourcing, Quality, Manufacturing and external development partners to bring high-quality products to market efficiently and successfully.

The ideal candidate is a strong technical leader who can move comfortably between strategic thinking, detailed engineering work, project execution and developing others.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and support the engineering team throughout the product development and commercialization process.
  • Oversee multiple product development projects while managing engineering projects of your own.
  • Develop and maintain product drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Perform mechanical analysis and evaluate prospective designs for performance, manufacturability, cost and reliability.
  • Apply knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to identify effective design solutions.
  • Lead product lifecycle activities, including design validation and testing.
  • Develop innovative mechanical concepts and solutions and encourage creative problem‑solving across the engineering team.
  • Provide technical direction and ensure products meet established quality and performance standards.
  • Support the development and debugging of production lines in partnership with Manufacturing Engineering and Production.
  • Partner with Quality to establish standards that maintain product integrity throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Provide final approval of tooling and parts as required.
Project & Commercialization Leadership
  • Provide project management oversight and guidance to ensure key project milestones and deliverables are achieved.
  • Help establish project priorities, timelines, resources and deliverables across the engineering team.
  • Create requests for quotation (RFQs) and maintain cost analysis through product release.
  • Ensure product components and assemblies successfully complete required first article processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, procedures and project execution.
  • Manage and coordinate external engineering resources, development teams and vendor partners.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Industrial Design, Marketing, Sales, Sourcing, Quality, Manufacturing and other internal teams to successfully bring products to market.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and influence decisions across functional areas.
  • Communicate technical concepts, project status, risks and recommendations effectively to leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support product development, suppliers, manufacturing partners and business initiatives.
Leadership Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline required; Master's degree in Engineering or an MBA preferred.
