Job summary

InSight Manufacturing Services is seeking a Machine Shop Manager to lead the Murphys, California shop with a hands-on, quality-focused approach. You will supervise machinists, CNC operators, and programmers, driving safety, on-time delivery, and continuous improvement.

The role emphasizes leadership, machining expertise, and collaboration with engineering and quality teams to uphold high standards and optimize production.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience as a CNC Machinist.
• Experience with CNC mills, lathes, tooling, and machining processes.
• Proficient in CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM, Esprit or similar.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing specs.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily machine shop operations, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery.
• Lead, train, mentor, and evaluate machinists, CNC operators, programmers, and shop personnel.
• Coordinate production schedules, workflow, staffing, and resources to meet customer demands.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize processes.
• Oversee tooling, materials, equipment maintenance, and production needs.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations to maintain standards.
• Develop and support employee training programs.
• Promote a positive, safe, and accountable work environment.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications.

Strong understanding of machining strategies, cutting parameters, and cycle-time optimization.

Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and production goals.
