Job summary

Eaton is seeking a Machine Safety Engineering Specialist to ensure functional safety and compliance of machinery and automated systems across our facilities. The role emphasizes ISO 12100, ISO 13849, IEC 62061, and risk assessment methods while supporting remediation efforts and safety program initiatives.

The position requires 6+ years in machinery safety, a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field, and the ability to travel up to 50%. Salary range is $130,000–$190,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Engineering or other technical field.
• Minimum 6+ years in machinery safety, automation, or industrial controls.
• Strong proficiency in safety system design, validation, and deployment.
• Familiar with LOTO procedures and energy control processes.
• Eaton will not sponsor immigration for this position.
• Must be physically located in the United States and willing to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Lead machine safety risk assessments and hazard analyses for manufacturing equipment and automated systems per ISO 12100.
• Design, specify, implement, and validate safety-related control systems per ISO 13849, IEC 62061, and related standards.
• Develop Safety Requirements Specifications (SRS), define PLr/SIL, and implement safeguards (emergency stops, interlocks, muting).
• Verify and validate safety systems through testing, analysis, and documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Develop and execute machine safety remediation plans from assessment to implementation.
• Collaborate with EHS, engineering, maintenance, and operations to ensure compliance and drive risk reduction.
• Maintain technical documentation including validation records, risk assessments, safety files, and instructions.
• Support EMSE program by mentoring candidates and contributing to enterprise-wide safety initiatives.
