What You Will Be Doing:

As the machine painter, you will be responsible for cleaning and preparing a variety of surfaces for painting that includes materials such as metal, aluminum, and galvanized surfaces. After mixing colors to the appropriate consistency and shade, you will apply coatings with a full range of application methods.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Cleaning and preparing a multitude of surfaces for painting to include, but not be limited to, metal, aluminum, and galvanized surfaces.
  • Mix colors, oils, and thinners to obtain appropriate consistency in order to meet the requirements of the job at hand.
  • Apply coatings with a full range of application methods to obtain the desirable results of color, coating, thickness, coverage, and protection.
  • Adjust colors when necessary.
  • Utilize enhanced finishing skills when appropriate.
  • Move items to drying area and unload.
  • Touch up defective areas of painted items.
  • Clean nozzles, containers, and hoses of painting equipment.
  • Maintain painting equipment.
  • Safely store and label all material.
  • Keep written account of paint usage.
  • Maintain work area to company expectations.
  • Keep over spray to a minimum.
  • Wet sand, buff, and polish when required.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in required safety program, and work in a safe manner.
  • Additional duties as assigned by manager.
Who We Are Looking For:

To be successful in this position you should have knowledge regarding paints, thinners, and lacquers and have good color perception. You should possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail. The ability to take direction and work in a team environment is essential to this position as well.

Education/Experience:
  • High school or equivalent.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
  • Proficiency in the use of spray painting equipment.
  • Knowledge of paints, thinners, and lacquers and have good color perception.
  • Ability to read and comprehend mix ratios as required by paint manufacturers.
  • Skilled in the ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
  • Must agree to wear any and all necessary personal protective equipment.
  • Performa manual activities associated with the painting process.
  • Pay attention to detail.
  • Assist and serve as backup to other facility employees.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess own tools.
  • Maintain company provided tools.
