Optical Cable Corporation is looking for a Cabler Operator for weekend shifts in Roanoke, Virginia. The role involves setting up and monitoring cabling equipment while ensuring high-quality production standards. 6:00 am – 6:00 pm Friday – Sunday with some schedule flexibility required; overtime is also available. 33 hours / week with full time benefits.
Sets up, runs, and monitors 36” up to 64” cabling equipment used for the manufacture of fiber optic cable.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months related experience and/or training preferred.
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate a machine in a production environment. Demonstrated ability to use tools and measuring devices properly. Ability to read and follow basic instructions and to understand and implement quality procedures. Math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all documentation. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision. Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and help resolve problems. Ability to operate a forklift.
While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. Significant inspecting activities require manual dexterity using hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. This job requires sight for significant reading and computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision. This work also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for communication with co-workers and alarm awareness. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with a disability to perform the essential functions.

$17.30 – $31.05
Eligible night and weekend shifts receive an additional 10% shift differential.

The posted pay range reflects the established base salary or hourly wage range for this position. Individual compensation is determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, internal equity, and business needs. New hires are typically hired below the midpoint of the range. Eligible positions may receive applicable shift differentials, skill premiums, or other forms of additional compensation.
