Job summary

Merchants Metals LLC is seeking a Machine Operator - Weaving to join our Operations team in Houston. This hands-on role operates weaving machines, pulls rolls, and builds pallets for multiple product lines while maintaining safety and efficiency in a demanding environment.

You will work Monday–Saturday with a shift from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM, averaging 40–50 hours per week. Experience in manufacturing and the ability to handle physical work are preferred, with ample opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in manufacturing, production, warehouse, or industrial environment preferred.
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment with extreme seasonal temperatures.
• Physically demanding, requires standing, walking and manual material handling.
• Team-based, fast-paced production setting; able to work independently as needed.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor weaving machines to produce quality finished products.
• Pull completed rolls from weaving machines.
• Build pallets for finished goods and various product lines.
• Replenish production materials and maintain take-up/packaging areas.
• Change and weld wire for weaving machines and adjust blades as needed.
• Monitor equipment, perform basic autonomous maintenance, and follow safety procedures.
• Identify and correct weaving issues and ensure guards are properly installed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This position works in a NON-CLIMATE-CONTROLLED manufacturing environment.

• You will be working indoors and around manufacturing equipment where temperatures can be extremely hot during the summer and cold during the winter. Employees must be comfortable working in these conditions and performing physical work throughout the shift.
• This is a hands-on manufacturing position that requires standing, walking, moving materials, wearing required PPE, and working around production equipment.

POSITION SUMMARY:

We currently have openings on our Operations team for Machine Operator - Weaving.

Work Schedule: Monday - Saturday, as scheduled

Schedule: 5:00 PM - 5:00 AM

Hours: Employees average at least 40 hours per week and typically work no more than 50 hours.

What You'll Do

• Operate and monitor weaving machines to produce quality finished products.
• Pull completed rolls from weaving machines.
• Build pallets for finished goods, including ALZD, GBW, and Vinyl products.
• Build pallets for GAW products, including black rolls.
• Replenish production materials such as wood, hog rings, straps, and clips.
• Clean and maintain the take-up and packaging areas.
• Change and weld wire for weaving machines.
• Monitor operating equipment and adjust when needed.
• Ensure all machine guards remain properly installed and in place.
• Identify and correct weaving and machine issues, including nest issues between the cutting system and main setup.
• Thread wire through the blade system.
• Adjust blades to achieve proper cuts.
• Adjust tension brackets and tension killers.
• Perform basic autonomous maintenance on the turret system, including greasing and oiling.
• Make turret-system adjustments to achieve proper knuckles or twist.
• Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing, production, warehouse, or industrial environment preferred.
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment, including significant heat in the summer and cold in the winter.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding, hands-on production job.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move materials throughout the workday.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-based, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
