Job description

Summary

Set up and operate stretch press machine to bend and form metal as specified by work order, blueprints drawing, or layout.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and positive working environment
  • Sets stops on machine bed, changes dies, and adjusts components.
  • Operates stretch press according to specifications.
  • Selects and positions flat, block, radius, or special purpose die sets into ram and bed of machine, using hoist, crane, measuring instruments, and hand tools.
  • Installs, aligns, and secures gears, holding fixtures, dies to machine bed, using gauges, and/or templates, and hand tools.
  • Inspects workpiece for defects.
  • Lifts, positions, and secures workpiece between dies of machine using crane.
  • Lubricates stretch press.
Nonessential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Previous manufacturing, machine operation, fabrication, or aerospace experience.
  • Previous experience operating a stretch press or similar forming equipment.
  • Experience working with aluminum sheet metal or other aerospace materials.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and quality practices.
  • Previous experience working from aerospace specifications or customer requirements.
