Serta Simmons Bedding (SSB) in Puyallup, WA is hiring for a manufacturing associate. The role involves pushing carts of panels to machines, preparing panels with flanges, and sewing activities to attach edges and labels while following tickets and schedules.

Qualifications

• Basic ability to read and write English.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to work safely, take initiative, multi-task, and work both independently and as a part of a team.
• Work experience with pneumatic tools and/or in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Push cart of panels to machine/follow Zone integrity.
• Remove panel from stack and position with flange under sewing machine foot.
• Check ticket for sizing and measure panel.
• Activate machine and sew flange to panel and overcast edge in one operation around perimeter of panel.
• Insert and sew in legal label and production ticket on every other panel. Mark ID on tickets.
• As required: add thread, roll of flange material, replace needles, oil machine, fix thread breaks and aside scrap.
• Observe stitching to detect defects and repair accordingly and check panel before and after sewing for flaws in materials and stitching.
• Notify production supervisor when defects are caused by machine malfunction.
• Maintain cleanliness of work area.

What You'll Do:

• Demonstrated proficiency in at least three positions.
• Must be able to comprehend and follow work instructions, loading schedules and production tickets. Must be able to understand and follow verbal instructions; communicate with coworkers and management clearly and respectfully; and work in an ever-changing, fast-paced team environment.
