Job summary

Umicore is seeking a Machine Operator for the second shift in Quapaw, OK. You will set up, operate, monitor and troubleshoot manufacturing machines used in producing infrared optical lenses and components.

You will measure dimensions with calipers and micrometers, read drawings, and ensure parts meet customer specs. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

What you will be doing
  • Set up, operate, monitor, measure and troubleshoot various manufacturing machines in the production of infrared optical lenses and/or components
  • Measure key dimensions using varying measurement instruments to ensure parts are in spec
  • Make adjustments to equipment as needed to ensure best possible operating parameters
  • Inspect final product to ensure quality of parts as defined by customer specifications
  • Enter product related information into computer software system
Who we are looking for
  • You have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • You have CNC experience (a plus)
  • You have experience with using and calibrating measurement instruments such as calipers and micrometers
  • You are able to read and interpret drawings and blueprints
  • You have finger/hand dexterity in order to handle small fragile parts

  • Executes assigned tasks in General Production following standard operating procedures and safety/quality requirements.
  • Maintains accuracy and completeness of records, documentation, and transactions in line with controls.
  • Recognizes issues or inconsistencies and supports the continuous improvement of work procedures and instructions.
  • Supports colleagues and responds to stakeholder requests in a timely, professional manner.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and records in line with policies and procedures.
  • Escalates issues, risks, and deviations promptly to supervisor and follows through on corrective actions.
