Job summary

Umicore in Oklahoma is seeking a General Production technician to set up, operate, monitor and troubleshoot manufacturing machines that produce infrared optical lenses and components.

You will measure dimensions with calipers and micrometers, read drawings, and ensure parts meet specs. A GED or high school diploma with 1–3 months of training or experience is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 1–3 months experience or training ok.
• Able to read and interpret drawings/blueprints.
• Experience with calipers or micrometers is a plus.

What you will be doing

• Set up, operate, monitor, measure and troubleshoot various manufacturing machines in the production of infrared optical lenses and/or components
• Measure key dimensions using varying measurement instruments to ensure parts are in spec
• Machines may include Single Point Diamond Turning CNC, Lens Molding, Slicing, Disc Polisher, etc.
• Make adjustments to equipment as needed to ensure best possible operating parameters
• Inspect final product to ensure quality of parts as defined by customer specifications
• Enter product related information into computer software system

Who we are looking for

• You have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
• You have CNC experience (a plus)
• You have experience with using and calibrating measurement instruments such as calipers and micrometers
• You are able to read and interpret drawings and blueprints
• You have finger/hand dexterity in order to handle small fragile parts

• Maintains accuracy and completeness of records, documentation, and transactions in line with controls.
• Recognizes issues or inconsistencies and supports the continuous improvement of work procedures and instructions.
• Supports colleagues and responds to stakeholder requests in a timely, professional manner.
• Maintains accurate documentation and records in line with policies and procedures.
• Escalates issues, risks, and deviations promptly to supervisor and follows through on corrective actions.
