Job summary

Smyth is seeking a Rewind Operator to join the Print Finishing Team in Minneapolis, MN. You will help bring package labels to life, ensure quality, and support Lean improvements.

The role offers full-time hours from 5:00am to 5:15pm, Thursday through Saturday, with a generous shift differential and overtime after 40 hours. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, PTO, and more.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
• Can perform heavy work, lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent pushing and pulling.
• One or more years of related flexographic printing experience preferred.
• Lean manufacturing experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up, run, and maintain CEI finishing machines efficiently.
• Inspect finished labels for errors and defects.
• Identify and implement Lean improvements.
• Follow finishing spec sheet and priorities from Finishing Lead/Supervisor.
• Prepare and maintain documentation for finishing tasks.
• Perform preventative maintenance on finishing equipment.

Salary Range: $21.00 To $24.00 Hourly

Compensation for Rewind Operator will be based on the skills and experiences you bring to Smyth

SHIFT AVAILABLE: 5:00am – 5:15pm, Thursday, Friday, Saturday (36.75 hours)

Generous shift differential in addition to hourly wage

Overtime is paid after 40 hours; typical OT available is at least one shift per month

Key Responsibilities for Rewind Operator include:

• Setting up, running, and maintaining CEI finishing machines in an efficient and timely manner
• Carefully and thoroughly inspecting completed labels for errors and defects
• Identifying, recommending, and implementing areas for Lean improvement/modification
• Performing work based on finishing spec sheet and priorities assigned by the Finishing Lead/Supervisor
• Preparing and maintaining appropriate documentation for assigned finishing tasks
• Performing preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the reliability finishing equipment

The ideal Rewind Operator candidate must demonstrate:

• Attention to detail, effective time management, and multi-tasking skills to meet deadlines on multiple long and short-term projects simultaneously
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, as well as read a ruler
• Self-motivation, being able to work with little supervision at times
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with a diverse group of people and personalities
• Ability to provide a high level of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization

Education, Skills, and Experience for Rewind Operator:

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent
• Required: Can perform heavy work, lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent pushing and pulling heavy items, often lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds
• Required: Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in the English language
• Preferred: One or more years of relatedflexographic printing experience
• A Plus: Experience working with lean manufacturing
