Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Pouch Operator in the Operations department. The ideal candidate will operate Pouch 1 & 2, produce bubble pouches, and support continuous improvement in setup and changeover activities.

Responsibilities include setting up and troubleshooting equipment, ensuring correct changeovers, training assistants, and maintaining inventory with a strong emphasis on safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• 2+ years in manufacturing or machine operation preferred.
• Intermediate math and English written communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Set-up, operate and troubleshoot equipment and processes.
• Ensure first offs are completed per technical specs.
• Ensure changeover is completed per standard.
• Establish, follow and improve equipment and setup parameters.
• Coach and mentor assistants and helpers when assigned.
• Ensure materials for changeover are available and secured prior to set-ups.
• Ensure product is packed and identified per specifications.
• Maintain accurate inventory and effective control of materials and supplies.
• Minimize downtime by proper set-ups, material availability and reporting shortages to the appropriate personnel.
• Oversee assistants/packers and provide clear instructions.
• Perform all duties as outlined in the assistant job description.
• All other duties as assigned.

Immediate Supervisor: Manufacturing Manager

Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Position Purpose: Operates Pouch 1 & 2 and produces bubble pouches

Principle Accountabilities

• Responsible to set-up, operate and troubleshoot equipment and processes.
• Ensure first offs are completed as per technical specifications.
• Ensure changeover is completed as per standard.
• Ensure equipment and set-up parameters are established, followed, and improved.
• Coaching and mentoring of assistants and helpers by providing clear and precise instructions, if assigned
• Ensure materials required for changeover are available and secured prior to set-ups.
• Ensure product is packed and identified as per specifications.
• Ensure accurate inventory and effective control of materials and supplies.
• Ensure work-center's downtime is minimized by ensuring proper equipment set-ups, material is present prior to changeover and report lack of raw materials, tooling and / or equipment issues to the appropriate personnel.
• Oversee the assistants and helpers/packers and provide clear and precise instructions to them.
• All duties outlined in the assistant job description.
• All other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• 2+ Years in a Manufacturing environment / machine operator experience preferred.
• Intermediate math skills and English written communication skills necessary.
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours at a time required
• Ability to work in space limited work area on continuous basis.
• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis
• General computer knowledge and experience handling paperwork
• Effective interpersonal skills
• Ability to perform the physical aspects of the role following recommended practices, with an emphasis on safety and injury prevention
• Inventory experience preferred
