Job summary

IPG in Bardstown, KY is seeking a Pouch Operator to operate Pouch 1 & 2, set up and run equipment, and ensure products meet specifications. This role requires standing for long periods and manual lifting while following safety guidelines.

You will troubleshoot processes, work with assistants to maintain workflow, ensure proper inventory control, and support a manufacturing environment focused on quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• 2+ years in a manufacturing environment or machine operator experience preferred.
• Intermediate math skills and English written communication skills necessary.
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours.
• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs.
• General computer knowledge and ability to handle paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Set-up, operate and troubleshoot equipment and processes.
• Complete first offs per technical specifications.
• Perform changeovers as per standard.
• Establish and follow equipment and setup parameters and seek improvements.
• Coach and mentor assistants with clear instructions when assigned.
• Ensure materials for changeover are available and secured beforehand.
• Ensure product is packed and identified per specifications.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and control of materials and supplies.
• Minimize downtime with proper setup, material readiness, and issue reporting.
• Oversee assistants/packers and provide clear instructions.
• All duties listed in the assistant job description.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Description

Title: Pouch Operator

Department: Operations

Immediate Supervisor: Manufacturing Manager

Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Position Purpose: Operates Pouch 1 & 2 and produces bubble pouches

Principle Accountabilities

• Responsible to set-up, operate and troubleshoot equipment and processes.
• Ensure first offs are completed as per technical specifications.
• Ensure changeover is completed as per standard.
• Ensure equipment and set-up parameters are established, followed, and improved.
• Coaching and mentoring of assistants and helpers by providing clear and precise instructions, if assigned
• Ensure materials required for changeover are available and secured prior to set-ups.
• Ensure product is packed and identified as per specifications.
• Ensure accurate inventory and effective control of materials and supplies.
• Ensure work-center’s downtime is minimized by ensuring proper equipment set-ups, material is present prior to changeover and report lack of raw materials, tooling and / or equipment issues to the appropriate personnel.
• Oversee the assistants and helpers/packers and provide clear and precise instructions to them.

• All other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• 2+ Years in a Manufacturing environment / machine operator experience preferred.
• Intermediate math skills and English written communication skills necessary.
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours at a time required
• Ability to work in space limited work area on continuous basis.
• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis
• General computer knowledge and experience handling paperwork
