Job summary

Olympic Steel, Inc. is seeking a Machine Operator to safely set up and run leveling, sheeting, and related equipment to produce flat sheets per customer specs.

You will work from customer orders and engineered layouts, ensuring quality and efficiency in a fast-paced environment. A high school diploma or GED and basic math are preferred, with attention to detail and reliability essential.

Qualifications

• High School or GED equivalent preferred.
• Mechanically inclined and safety/quality conscious.
• General knowledge of crane operation and lifting devices.
• Basic math skills.
• Self-motivated with ability to work under general supervision.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to inspect material for quality conformance.
• Functional literacy.
• Working knowledge of general computer programs.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate automatic leveling, sheeting, and console-operated equipment to level length and stack weighed flat sheets to customer specifications.
• Work from customer orders, engineered layouts, and general instructions.

Job Description

TheMachine Operatorsafely performs position-specific responsibilities in line with Olympic Steel’s Core Values to ensure the highest level of productivity and quality while adhering to all relevant company policies and procedures. Sets up and operates automatic leveling, sheeting, console-operated equipment to level length and stack weigh flat sheets of various gauges of material to customer requirements. Work from customer orders, engineered layouts, and general instructions.

Qualifications:

• High School or GED equivalent preferred.
• Mechanically inclined, production-oriented and safety and quality conscious.
• General knowledge of crane operation and ancillary lifting devices.
• Basic math skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work under general supervision.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to inspect material for quality conformance through the use of measuring devices and drawings.
• Functional literacy.
• Working knowledge of general computer programs preferred.
• Previous experience with precision instruments preferred.
