Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands in Houston, TX is hiring for a manufacturing operator on the night shift. You will set up and operate heavy machinery, read blueprints, and maintain equipment as part of a quality production team.

The role requires 1+ year of related experience, good communication, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Overtime and weekend work are common; onsite site address is 7301 Fairview Street, Houston, TX 77041.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of related work experience in manufacturing or similar environment.
• Good communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Experience with hand tools, wrenches, banding equipment and nail guns.
• Able to read a tape measure.
• Forklift experience a plus / must be trainable on forklift.
• Crane experience a plus / must be trainable on crane.
• Flexible with overtime and weekends when needed.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds continuously.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate heavy machinery and gauges for cutting, punching, forming, blocking and processing tasks.
• Produce quality building parts and understand production techniques.
• Follow safety rules in a manufacturing environment.
• Operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and lubrication.
• Mark parts with correct identifiers and ensure traceability.
• Interpret blueprints and technical data to select materials.
• Support continuous improvement in the work area.
• Stand/walk 8–12 hours daily.
• Handle repetitive material moves and occasional awkward positions.
• Climb on/off equipment and ladders as needed.
• Work in varying outdoor/indoor conditions (hot/cold/rain/sun).

Job description

Base pay starts at $18.50 per hour plus $1.00 per hour shift differential

Night Shift starts: 6:00PM, hours vary depending on operations

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up and operate heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations
• Knowledge of production techniques and have the ability to produce quality-building parts
• Knows and understands all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment
• Ability to operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required to maintain proper operation
• Mark part number, order number, number of pieces on parts. Attach identification tags as required for customer to have the ability to locate correct parts
• Interpret blueprints, specifications, andother technical data and select correct raw material or semi-finished parts
• Maintains continuous improvement practices in work area
• Standing and walking 8-12 hrs. every day
• Repetitive material handling. Some in awkward body positioning
• Repetitive climbing on and off of equipment and ladders
• Varying and extreme working conditions inside and outside (Hot, Cold, Rain, Shine)

This is a position with the potential overtime. The shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours long depending on work orders for the day and season of the year.
