Job summary

Charter Next Generation is seeking a production operator to run state-of-the-art plastic extrusion equipment and produce high-quality films. You’ll train in a collaborative environment while contributing to sustainable packaging solutions that reduce waste and support environmental goals.

The role requires working 12-hour night shifts (6:00pm–6:00am) on a rotating schedule in Blythewood, SC. You’ll benefit from full medical, dental, and vision insurance, an employee ownership model, and numerous

Qualifications

  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts and lift up to 65 pounds.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort with measuring tools.
  • Strong communication skills and positive attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a technical environment.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in training to learn plastic extrusion line operations.
  • Change extrusion machine setup according to work orders and inspect products for conformance.
  • Monitor line quality and scrap, and perform housekeeping and preventative maintenance.
  • Set up plastic extrusion machines for shutdowns, startups, and switchover production.
  • Manage raw materials and keep the extruder fed with resin.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and coworkers, assist with changeovers.
  • Identify needed changes and propose improvements.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and seek supervisor assistance when needed.

The Role

You will operate state-of-the-art plastic extrusion equipment to produce high-quality specialty films. Working in a collaborative environment, you'll monitor production quality, troubleshoot equipment issues, and participate in our comprehensive training program while contributing to sustainable packaging solutions that make a real difference.

Schedule
  • Work: Monday & Tuesday – Off: Wednesday & Thursday – Work: Friday, Saturday, & Sunday
  • Off: Monday & Tuesday – Work: Wednesday & Thursday – Off: Friday, Saturday, & Sunday
  • 12-hour static shifts (Nights - 6:00pm - 6:00am)
What You'll Do
  • Performs duties in a manner that adheres to safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the training curriculum as an operator learning aspects of plastic extrusion line operations while completing assigned duties required for certification
  • Change plastic extruding machine, set up according to production line changes following specifications on work orders, and examine products for nonconformance to specifications
  • Responsible for monitoring quality and accuracy of the line and scrap
  • Perform housekeeping and preventative maintenance tasks as required to maintain equipment
  • Set up plastic extrusion machines (shut-down, start-up, switchovers, order preparation, and production, of plastic extrusion lines).
  • Responsible for raw materials (resin) by keeping extruder fed with resin mixture
  • Maintain good interaction and teamwork with supervisor and co-workers
  • Give assistance to co-workers to expedite changeovers
  • Identify needed changes and make recommendations - find a better way
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues, requesting supervisor assistance when needed

Compensation & Benefits
Starting Salary
  • Wages ranging from $18.00 - $21.00 per hour, dependent on experience.
  • +$2.50 shift differential
