Job summary

Amcor Rigid Packaging is seeking a skilled machine operator to support blow molding, downstream equipment operation, and quality testing. You will perform measurements, adjust processes, and ensure products meet customer specs across shifts.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; forklift certification is a plus. Prior manufacturing experience and basic math skills are beneficial for accurate data entry and QC tasks. Safety and GMP adherence is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Operate blow molding and downstream equipment (wrappers, strappers, palletizers) to meet production targets.
  • Perform quality assurance tests and record results; stop production if quality issues arise.
  • Adjust machines to maintain product specifications (height, weight, finish).
  • Maintain safety and GMP practices; participate in training and continuous improvement.
  • Follow supervisor directions and communicate issues promptly.

Job description

Job Summary:

Primary Purpose


Must possess basic mechanical skill and knowledge and understand how blow molding equipment function. Responsible for operation and excellent understanding of all downstream equipment including wrappers, strappers, palletizers, in addition to working knowledge of blow mold and injection machinery, performs, preform hoppers, quality testing etc. Operation of blow mold and injection machines involves performing short-cycle, repetitive and some control functions in set pattern to attain high quality production output that meets or exceeds customer expectations.


Specific Responsibilities/Essential Functions

Abides by all Amcor's Safety and Quality policies and procedures. Maintains standard production objectives through proper machine operation and records production, accurately. Makes necessary machine adjustments to maintain consistent machine operation and product quality in terms of customer specifications ( i.e., bottle height, volumetric, top-load, visual defects, section weights, finish dimensions, etc.). Performs quality assurance tests using appropriate measuring devices and basic math skills, and enters resultant data into the computer system, and has authority to stop production due to quality issues. Has authority to stop machines/production to communicate machine or equipment problems and breakdowns to Shift Supervisor/Shift Lead or Shift Maintenance Mechanic. Follows all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook and as trained during the various safety‑related training programs. Understands and communicates all hazards and safety issues to co‑workers and managers/supervisors. Properly uses all personal protective equipment. Maintains housekeeping of all assigned areas. This includes applying Good Manufacturing Practices to meet plant goals. Actively participates in Quality training and Good Manufacturing Practice meetings to assist in continuous improvement of plant operations. Performs other related duties as directed by the Shift Supervisor/Production Manager.


Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Shift Supervisor.


Level of Authority & Authorization

"You have the right to hold for inspection, any product you feel does not meet customer/company specifications. "



  • Those employees with authorized training, have the ability to shut down / stop equipment if continued operation is a threat to any employee's health and safety


  • Stop production for unacceptable quality


  • Quarantine out‑of‑specification products, materials or supplies.


  • Authority to make process adjustments.

Job Specifications and Requirements:

Education and Experience

Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Some post‑secondary education preferred (i.e.,Technical or Vocational education).


Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.


Other Requirements:

Valid forklift license based on job duties a plus.


Ability to recognize and understand numbers, values, and enters this information into an on‑line database accurately. A strong mathematical ability is essential.


Ability to visually distinguish fine variations in color and other visual defects.


Proficient hand/eye coordination to operate equipment.


Ability to read and write in English.


Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions and independent judgment calls based on the situation at hand.


Ability to efficiently and effectively use a computer and related software.


Ability to work all shifts and required overtime.

The above requirements and training are not limited to the above and could be one or more depending on job assignment. Requirements may include all other duties as assigned by management.


Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift/push/pull 70 pounds on a continual basis; this is a heavy physical demand job as outlined by the U.S. Department of Labor. Incumbent is required to stand/walk for up to 11 hours per shift on a concrete floor and is frequently required to do the following; 1) lift up to 120 lbs., 2) carry up to 50 lbs., 3) push/pull up to 900 lbs. using a hydraulic hand jack (this is the equivalent of a static push/pull of approximately 70 lbs.). Must frequently squat/bend/kneel/reach/etc. in order to carry out the essential functions of the position.


Must also be able to climb stairs/ladders up to 15 feet high; lift/reach overhead with a 7 pound top frame off stack and place on bulk pallet configuration approximately every 10 to 15 minutes; reach across palletizer bed 54" to 60" to straighten/pick up fallen bottles continuously when operating bulk palletizer.
