Summary:
Operates injection molding machines, extruder, spin welder, assembles reels and spools, finishes product and packages for shipment.
Essential Functions:
Opening and closing machine doors and reaching to remove parts.
Trimming and sanding of plastic parts using a variety of trimming and cutting tools.
Gluing and assembly of plastic parts using solvents and/or nuts, bolts, and an air wrench.
Inspecting parts for defects and correcting as needed.
Palletizing and/or boxing parts for shipment.
Counting and stacking parts.
Entering counts in computer.
Grinding rejects and sprues.
Refilling required supplies for next shift, i.e., solvent, inserts, boxes cardboard.
Keeping work area clean and free of safety hazards.
Filling out production paperwork, inventory tags and labels daily.
Working overtime as needed.
Other duties as assigned and required.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Must be able to read, write and count to fill out paperwork correctly.
Attention to detail is important for quality.
Good dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
Physical demands:
While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to step on/off platforms, slide door open/closed by pushing/pulling, reach to remove or pick-up parts, stand, turn and walk from machine or assembly area to pallet while carrying the finished product weighing from <=1-45 lbs., depending on which job is being performed. The employee is occasionally required to stoop or bend to pick up parts. The employee must regularly lift up to 20 lbs., and infrequently lift up to 45 lbs. The pace is medium to fast. Some machines require excessive walking.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job the employee will be working around moving mechanical parts. Occasionally there will be a slight smell of fumes from the solvents and smoke, fumes or odor from the plastic material. The noise level in the work environment is within OSHA acceptable limits. The heat level is moderate to excessive in the summer months.
