Description
The Machine Operator II provides essential support to production teams by assisting machine operators, maintaining materials and supplies, tracking inventories, and packaging finished products. The role reports to the designated leader regarding work status updates.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret production paperwork such as Sales Orders, Production Notes, Customer Specifications, and Set-Up Sheets.
- Set up assigned machines for production according to established guidelines and specifications.
- Perform setup, maintenance, and changeovers on extrusion lines following customer specifications.
- Audit material consumption and loading.
- Enter all production data into the Enterprise Readiness Planning (ERP) system.
- Inspect and prepare customer samples in accordance with product specifications.
- Conduct tooling changes or machine adjustments as needed.
- Suggest improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Recommend changes in working conditions and equipment to enhance efficiency.
- Attend shift and safety meetings as required.
- Assist operators and coworkers to meet organizational key performance indicators.
- Operate lines in two production segments.
- Perform duties of Utility and Machine Operator as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education & Skillsets:
- Effective communication with workers, supervisors, managers, and customers.
- Ability to understand and carry out complex, multi-step instructions.
- Ability to handle problems and non-standard situations with multiple variables.
- Strong multi-tasking and time management skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions and correspondence.
- Ability to travel between facilities.
- Willingness to work overtime if required.
- Proficiency with computers, including manufacturing software.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including fractions and decimals.
- Ability to read rulers and understand measurements in fractions and decimals.
Preferred Education and Skillsets:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Associate degree from a technical school.
- 1-3 years of experience with dies and extruders.
Physical Demands:
- Lift at least 50 pounds.
- Push or pull heavy objects up to 250 pounds.
- Work 12-hour shifts.
- Perform repetitive tasks.
- Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk.
- Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and balance, sometimes in tight spaces.
- Good close vision, depth perception, and focus ability.
- Meet Mativ certification requirements to operate Power Industrial Trucks.
PPE Requirements:
- Safety shoes (steel toe or composite toe).
- Safety glasses.
- Bump caps.
- Protective gloves when performing certain tasks.
- Hearing protection when required.
- Other PPE as needed for specific tasks.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing environment conditions.
- Air temperatures from cold to hot.
- Atmosphere may contain dust, fumes, and odors.
- Potential hazards include mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, and radiation risks.

The hourly rate ranges from $25.00 to $35.00 depending on experience.
