Position Summary
The machine operator entails operating high-speed sophisticated machines by managing settings and conducting tests to ensure successful operation in the production process.
Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Sets up, operates, and tends the PT machine
- Inspects equipment through troubleshooting, checks for problems, and fixes them immediately to prevent breakdowns
- Feeds dough into the PT machine
- Shovels filling into the PT machine
- Monitors the PT process; conducts process checks to verify filling, dough consistency, and quality to specifications
- Closely monitors PT for signs of malfunctioning and addresses issues immediately to maintain quality
- Ensures product runs to specifications, e.g., overlaps
- Assists with training backup personnel
- Follows established equipment Lockout/Tagout procedures as required
- Follows all safety rules and regulations per company policies
- Operates forklift/pallet jack to move raw materials
- Reports quality problems to Lead/Manager/Supervisor
- Reports machinery issues to Maintenance Team/Lead
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Temperatures throughout the plant average 50 degrees. Required to wear hairnet, smock, boots, ear plugs, gloves, plastic sleeves, and aprons provided by the company. Must comply with Food Safety standards: GMPs, SSOP, SOP, HACCP, SQF, and USDA requirements.
Position Qualifications
Required Education, Experience, Certification, License, or Membership:
- Preferably a High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work rapidly and accurately
- Math skills
- Reliable and self-driven
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Forklift/Pallet jack certification
Employee Safety Responsibilities
- Report all injuries, unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, and horseplay
- Use proper lifting techniques and mechanical assistance (hand jacks, forklifts)
- Seek personal assistance when needed (buddy system)
- Use handrails and wear appropriate PPE
