Job summary

Century International Arms, Inc. in Fairfax, VT, is seeking a Machine Operator I for full-time work performing setup and operation of CNC mills and lathes. The role reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor and requires the ability to read drawings and maintain quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ experience operating CNC machines such as lathes and mill machines in a manufacturing environment.
• Intermediate knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments, including calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and scales.
• Intermediate knowledge of toolholders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various CNC machines.

Responsibilities

• Adjusts machines, including controls, to ensure quality of work.
• Communicates with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality and other manufacturing personnel for assignments and to resolve quality issues.
• Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
• Performs basic preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Studies drawings, manuals, specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Interprets sequence of operations and setup requirements.
• Participates in and supports the 5S process daily.
• Other duties as required.

Summary of Position Mission

Responsible for setup and operation of CNC mills and lathes.

Responsibilities

• Adjusts machines, including controls or controlmedia, as required toensure quality of work
• Communicates withsupervisor, engineers, productioncontrol,quality and othermanufacturing personnel for
  assignments and toresolve qualityissues
• Keeps equipment and work area cleanand orderly
• Performs basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment
• Studies and interprets drawings,manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances
• of finished work pieces,sequence of operations and setup requirements
• Activelyparticipate andsupport the 5S process within the work area on a daily basis.
• Other duties will be assigned as required.

Working Conditions

Workis normallyperformed in a climate-controlled office environmentand throughouta heated manufacturing and
warehousefacility. Exposure to conditions ofextreme heat/cold, poor ventilation,fumes and gases is verylimited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of lightmanufacturing,shipping and receiving, and normal officeequipment
(computers, telephones, etc.). No knownenvironmental hazards are encountered in normal performance ofjob duties.
