Job Description
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating winders, adjusting, and packaging finished goods, conducting quality checks, handling scrap production and assisting in scrap reduction while maintaining safety and quality standards. They are responsible for the direct supervision of production lines.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Oversee all processes, equipment, employees, safety, and housekeeping on assigned lines.
- Understand and be able to operate at least 9 blown lines.
- Perform regular quality and weight checks by reading and verifying work orders and skid plans.
- Ensure scrap goals for the department are met by cutting, separating scrap and refeeding.
- Assist Maintenance Technicians during breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Operate McGuires and process control units, monitor production and adjust settings as needed.
- Handle thread up and startup of machines, including during startup modes.
- Package finished goods using labels, pallets, and trays to ensure presentation.
- Ensure adequate packaging and supplies for next crew at least two hours into next shift.
- Maintain knowledge of all processes and equipment.
- Assist in training packers.
- Assist in giving breaks to other packers on lines.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in plant and department.
- Interpret and adhere to production work orders.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in company goals and objectives.
- Communicate with managers, supervisors, and co‑workers about malfunctions, unsafe conditions, and equipment problems.
- Attend scheduled meetings.
- Wear mandatory PPE.
- Be a team player with a positive attitude and work well with others.
- Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
- Be dependable and flexible for other facets of production.
- Work with minimal supervision in fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Overall knowledge and experience of extruders, recycling procedures, and resin profiles and properties.
- Must be able to work 12‑hour shift including holidays and weekends.
- Must be able to bend, twist, and rotate body at all times.

- Exert 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 35 pounds frequently.
- Stand for 12 hours.
- Bend, twist, and rotate body at all times.

- Hearing to monitor equipment sounds.

Language Skills
Read and write in English.
Education
High School diploma or GED or equivalent; work experience may substitute.
Salary Range
Starting rate $21.00, may vary based on knowledge, skills, and experience up to $32.50.
