Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a first-shift machinist/assembler in Monticello, IA. You will set up and operate heavy machinery, read blueprints and measurements, and perform routine maintenance to ensure quality parts for production.

The role requires basic math skills, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and adherence to safety rules in a non-air conditioned facility. Full-time employment with benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment preferred, but not required.
• Basic math skills, including fractions, measurements, and simple equations.
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately and interpret measurements.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and other technical documents to identify and select the correct raw materials or semi-finished parts.
• Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds from below the waist to above shoulder height as required by the job.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, and processing operations.
• Knowledge of production techniques and have the ability to produce quality-building parts.
• Know safety rules and precautions for a manufacturing environment.
• Operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools.
• Mark part number, order number, pieces count, and attach identification tags as needed.
• Maintain continuous improvement practices in the work area.
• Repetitive material handling with occasional awkward body positioning.
• Climb on/off equipment and ladders.
• Work conditions in a non-air conditioned facility.
