Job description

The Engineered Ceramics Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of production machinery and equipment within the Engineered Ceramics Plant. The Engineered Ceramics Plant Operator works in various capacities including mixing, casting, curing, glazing, packaging, welding, shipping, griding, and assembling glued brick to meet production needs.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote a culture of safety by setting a positive example and fostering environments where safe practices are a priority.
  • Follow all safety procedures and lockouts as required.
  • Ensure quality guideline adherence and maintain quality standards of the products produced.
  • Perform tear down and reassemble large molds.
  • Prepare and cast large shapes, glue and place bricks in molds, and package and shrink wrap finished goods.
  • Safely and efficiently operate all equipment according to applicable JSA's and work instructions.
  • Push and pull molds on rollers that can weigh up to 200 lbs.
  • Perform equipment checks daily for safe operation and report equipment problems to Maintenance and/or Supervisor.
  • Perform daily and weekly cleanups, including PM's, look for and report any possible problems while ensuring the area is kept clean and organized.
  • Clean mixers regularly.
  • Read blueprints and distinguish colors to understand layouts for the glued brick bottoms and ladle bottoms
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope of the role

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have basic mathematical skills and the ability to use measuring equipment.
  • Ability to work safely around Combustible items.
  • Must have Mechanical abilities as well as a strong analytical aptitude.
  • Computer knowledge with Microsoft Office products, SAP, and MII.
  • Ability to identify, observe, and assess materials and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail skills.

HEALTH, SAFETY, & WORK ENVIORNMENT:

  • Perform all work in accordance with specified policies
  • The work is performed outdoors and/or indoors, enduring heat, cold, rain, dust, wind, and other elements.
  • Capable of operating various types of heavy equipment and/or machinery.

PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:

  • Physical demands include but are not limited to standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, climbing, working at heights, and lifting - 50 pounds maximum.
  • Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (including hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, and gloves).
  • Must be able to successfully complete respirator medical clearance and fit testing.
