Job summary

Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope in Westbrook, ME is seeking an Edge Grinder Operator to run a vertical grinder, grinding or polishing glass edges and recording production on schedules. The role requires coordinating production demands with the Lead and other operators on a first shift, Monday through Friday, 6am–4pm.

The ideal candidate will read sketches, operate grinders, read a tape measure, and perform decimal-based calculations.

Qualifications

• Basic computer familiarity is required.
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
• Ability to perform math calculations with numbers, fractions and decimals.

Responsibilities

• Read sketches and interpret onto glass edges.
• Coordinate with schedules and production demands on each shift.
• Operate a grinder to ground or polish glass edges.
• Operate overhead crane and vacuum lift as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance on machines.
• Complete daily worksheets and forms.
• Maintain regular attendance and safety compliance.

Job Summary

This position involves the operation of a vertical grinder to grind or polish glass edges. Operator tracks, locates, and records edger production on schedules provided by Lead person. Communicate production demands with operators on each shift. This is a 1st shift position scheduled Monday - Friday 6am-4pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Read and understand sketches and interpret their meaning onto glass edges.
• Read schedules and understand edger's production demands based on schedule information.
• Operate a grinder to fabricate a quality ground or polished edge.
• Operate overhead crane and vacuum lift.
• Perform routine maintenance on machines.
• Complete daily worksheets and forms.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance, safely performing tasks and adherence to all safety policies and procedures.

Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements

• Basic computer familiarity.
• Read and use a tape measure.
• Read and perform mathematical calculations and measurements with numbers, fractions, and decimals normally acquired through high school education or equivalency.
