Olympic Steel is seeking a Machine Operator for its Schaumburg, Illinois location. In this role, you will setup, operate, and maintain machine specifications, ensuring quality and efficiency in production. Responsibilities include cutting materials as per work orders, packaging, and general warehouse tasks.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of machine operation experience, is skilled in measuring features, and is able to lift up to 50 lbs as required. Competitive benefits include medical, dental, and 401(k) plans.

Job Description

The Machine Operator – Cut to Length/leveler operator position sets up machine to proper specifications, operates machine to cut materials specified by work order, and checks quality of product coming off the machine. The Machine Operator – Cut to Length position also packages material (banding) and prepares for shipment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of crane operation and lifting devices preferred
• Skilled at measuring machined features using a variety of measuring instruments
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• 1+ year of machine operation experience
• Setting: Warehouse
  • Lift: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. 15% of shift
  • Stand: Must be able to stand up to 100% of shift
  • Walk: Must be able to walk 50% of shift
  • Climbing: Must be able to climb stairs/ladders up to 10% of shift
  • Stooping/Bending: Must be able to stoop/bend up to 30% of shift
