Job summary

Olympic Steel in Schaumburg, IL is seeking a Machine Operator to set up and operate the Cut to Length/leveler line on the 2nd shift. You will preparation per work orders and ensure material quality as it comes off the line.

Duties include setting up, cutting to length, inspecting finished pieces, packaging for shipment, and assisting with general warehouse tasks.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of machine operation experience.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of crane operation and lifting devices preferred.
• Skilled at measuring machined features using a variety of measuring instruments.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Job Description:

The Machine Operator - Cut to Length/leveler operator position sets up machine to proper specifications, operates machine to cut materials specified by work order, and checks quality of product coming off the machine. The Machine Operator - Cut to Length position also packages material (banding) and prepares for shipment.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of crane operation and lifting devices preferred
• Skilled at measuring machined features using a variety of measuring instruments
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• 1+ year of machine operation experience
• Setting: Warehouse
  • Lift: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. 15% of shift
  • Stand: Must be able to stand up to 100% of shift
  • Walk: Must be able to walk 50% of shift
  • Climbing: Must be able to climb stairs/ladders up to 10% of shift
  • Stooping/Bending: Must be able to stoop/bend up to 30% of shift
