Job summary

Winamac Coil Spring, Inc. in Kewanna, IN is seeking an Auto Coil operator for the 2nd shift to fabricate coiled compression, torsion and extension springs from steel wire. You will start with supervision and may progress to running the machine solo and earning Set-Up Certification.

This role requires reading blueprints, using micrometers and calipers, performing measurements, and maintaining safety and quality. Strong math, problem solving and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and use simple math.
  • Comfort reading blueprints, drawings and setup cards.

Responsibilities

  • Read and follow blueprints, drawings and setup cards to make springs according to specifications.
  • Use micrometers, calipers and other measuring tools to verify dimensions.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders for maintenance and service.
  • Follow OSHA safety rules and maintain ethical conduct.
  • Operate and set up coiling machines and support tools as needed.

Coiling Department Kewanna, IN Full-Time 2nd Shift

Position Summary

The Auto Coil position operates a variety of machines to fabricate lots or samples of coiled compression, torsion and extension springs from steel wire. You will start out running the machine with supervision, can then be promoted to running the machine alone, and eventually can become Set-Up Certified on that machine.

  • Read and follow blueprints, drawings and set-up cards to make springs according to specifications
  • Strong understanding of machine tools such as arbors, coiling points, rollers, and pitch tools, with the ability to install such tools on the coiler
  • Use micrometers, calipers and other measuring tools
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Comply with OSHA safety and health rules

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week.
