Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is hiring a manufacturing operator to support our cheese production on a 12-hour rotating shift. The role requires attention to safety, quality and efficiency, with responsibilities across line setup, inspection and documentation.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, some manufacturing experience and basic math/communication skills. Overtime and cross-training across positions are expected to support a 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school degree or equivalent.
• Recent manufacturing experience as an operator.
• Mechanical and electrical skills preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication with team members and all necessary departments.
• Able to understand production schedules and use product specifications.
• Experience in food production environment preferred.
• Able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Basic math and computer literacy (MS Office).

Responsibilities

• Operate and inspect cheese production lines to meet customer specifications.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Rotate through required positions and work overtime as needed.
• Assist with QA protocols and GMP compliance.
• Keep work area clean, organized and minimize waste and downtime.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $23.77 - $24.77

Major Responsibilities

• 1. Have a working knowledge of Safety Methods and Procedures. (i.e. Proper Lifting Techniques, Proper Knife Handling Techniques, MSDS, etc..)
• 2. Assure the type and quality of cheese being used matches the customer specifications, food safety & quality standards, and efficiency standards through product inspections.
• 3. Assure the machine is set up correctly for the run prior to running cheese.
• 4. Neatly, accurately and legibly maintain all records and documentation.
• 5. Operate metal detectors as needed, including completing required paperwork.
• 6. Perform minor maintenance and/or Preventative Maintenance (PM) to equipment.
• 7. Promotes and maintains accurate communications between Supervisors, Line Leads, Shipping, and Maintenance on both shifts and Sanitation.
• 8. Assist with Quality Assurance (QA) protocols and documentation as required by the QA department.
• 9. Keep work area neat, clean and organized at all times.
• 10. Minimizes waste of supplies and cheese.
• 11. Minimizes downtime.
• 12. Team oriented.
• 13. Aware of the value of all necessary tools and equipment and maintains them for optimal use.
• 14. Positive attitude toward work and co-workers.
• 15. Able to work overtime.
• 16. Able to rotate into all necessary positions.
• 17. Adheres to all policies listed in the Employee Handbook
• 18. Adheres to all policies listed in the Employee Safety Handbook and maintains a good personal safety record
• 19. Adheres to all policies and procedures relating to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), food safety including testing the metal detectors (CCP) and Saputo Management Policy Statement
• 20. Other duties as assigned by a Supervisor or Line Lead.

Skills Required

• 1. Minimum of a High School degree or equivalent required; advanced technical training a plus.
• 2. Recent manufacturing experience as an operator demonstrating mechanical aptitude.
• 3. Mechanical/Electrical skills preferred.
• 4. Good verbal and written communication skills with team members and all necessary departments.
• 5. Able to understand production schedules.
• 6. Able to understand and use Product Specifications.
• 7. Experience in food production environment preferred, but not required.
• 8. Working knowledge of harps and cutters required.
• 9. Able to use hand and power tools.
• 10. Good decision making and problem solving abilities.
• 11. Attention to detail.
• 12. Able to follow instructions.
• 13. Able to read, write legibly, understand and communicate the English language.
• 14. Able to perform and understand basic math; addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions.
• 15. Computer literate in MS Office; good computer skills needed.

12-Hour Rotating Shift Schedule

This position follows a compressed workweek with alternating 3-day and 4-day workweeks, offering employees extended time off while supporting our 24/7 manufacturing operation.

Shift Schedule:

6:00 AM - 6:30 PM Typically scheduled Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday.
