Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA, Inc. is hiring an entry-level plant operator for a 24/7 manufacturing facility. You will be trained across multiple positions to support packaging, pasteurization, and overall plant operations. This hands-on role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Applicants should have strong communication skills, a good math ability, and be able to lift up to 40 lbs. Training provided, with potential for cross-department exposure.

Responsibilities

• Safe and efficient operation of production equipment (packaging, conveying, lift trucks, filling).
• Follow SOPs in detail and set up packaging coders and validate codes.
• Identify out-of-spec conditions and communicate them per protocol.
• Perform routine equipment adjustments and use hand tools.
• Operate lift trucks, move materials, and complete production records neatly.
• Assist with changeovers, CIP/SIP, clean-up and setup; ensure product pasteurization per regs.
• Support audits and maintain housekeeping and safety procedures.

Position Responsibilities

• Safe and efficient operation of production equipment, which may include: packaging equipment, conveying equipment, lift truck operation and filling equipment.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOP's) in detail without deviation.
• Set-up packaging coders, validate product codes in accordance with code specifications.
• Identify and effectively communicate any out-of-specification product conditions.
• Follow the established notification protocol.
• Perform routine equipment adjustments.
• Use of various hand tools.
• Safe operation of a lift truck, moving materials throughout shift as needed/required.
• Accurately and neatly complete production records and documents.
• Assist with equipment change-overs, CIP/SIP, clean-up and equipment set-up.
• Product pasteurization in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
• Perform department environmental controls.
• Perform manual palletizing operations based on stack pattern and customer requirements.
• Perform product reclaim and rework operations.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Follow all established occupational health and safety procedures.
• Follow all established GMP's and Food Safety requirements.
• Cross-train with other departments.
• Perform good housekeeping within established housekeeping guidelines.
• Adhere to the Saputo Code of Ethics, actively apply the Saputo Company Values and Workplace Climate Policy.
• Work together in a team environment with co-workers and other department personnel.
• Other duties as required by management.

Job requirements

• Minimum of (2)-two years of demonstrated work experience in food manufacturing, warehousing, dairy food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience in milk pasteurization a plus.
• Good math skills.
• Proficient computer skills, software and data entry, SAP a plus.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated work history.
• Good attendance is a must.

Physical Demands

• Ability to work in manufacturing environment which includes but not limited to: noise, changing temperatures (hot, wet, cold, humid), standing/walking/bending/stooping/climbing stairs, maneuvering around manufacturing equipment consistently throughout the shift.
• Fine manipulation and dexterity, gripping and squeezing.
• Visual acuity with the ability to see color.
• Working with chemicals, wearing personal protective equipment and following approved chemical handling procedures.
• Physical lifting up to 40-lbs frequently throughout the shift and 40+ lbs with assistance.
• Shift flexibility.
• This is a hands-on role for a 24/7 manufacturing facility.
• Our equipment operators are assigned to a team on a 24/7 operation to support manufacturing.
• This can either be rotating, days, swing or night shifts and weekends.
• Work days and shifts may change to help cover vacations/absences, during plant downtime or related events such as audits.
