Job Title: 5 Axis Router Machine Operator Department: 11 Forest Parkway– Lex East
Shift Hours: (7:00am – 3:30pm),Mon - Friday (with possible overtime & weekend work)
Summary: Primary duties of the 5-Axis machine operator are to program, set up, load, unload, run and maintain the machine. The Machine Operator - 5-Axis Router ensures the 5-axis machine is properly set up and is operating efficiently and at full capacity. The operator oversees and makes adjustments to maintain product quality and meet order specifications. The operator also makes sure that the 5-axis operation is stocked with needed materials and that the machine is well-maintained by performing good housekeeping and periodic quality checks on output.
The Machine Operator - 5-Axis Router will work closely with Master Scheduler/ Production supervisor & production lines. They will assist the materials & production teams in meeting WIG commitments, and achieving 95% or more OTFR.
In this Machine Operator for 5 Axis position you will:
- Set up, and run 5–Axis CNC router (MultiCAM) daily
- Ensure that the correct product is in place for production schedules.
- Work with computer-controlled equipment to make sure its set up properly, working well, and producing quality product.
- Create and modify CNC programs as per drawings.
- Read and understand the Drawings and 3D models.
- Route rubber boxes through their production cycle.
- Clean and debur rubber boxes for production.
- Operate a chop saw to bring boxes sizes into specifications.
- Operate various pneumatic and power tools.
- Maintain workspace cleanliness and perform preventative maintenance of the 5-Axis router and vacuum.
- Perform tasks while complying with company safety policies.
- Follow OSHA standards
- Maintain an attendance in good standing so that production is as efficient as possible.
- Work with production supervisor to follow daily / weekly / monthly production
- Participate in continuous improvement projects
- Participate in routine practices and team projects relating to LEAN, 5S, Scrap, Safety, Quality, etc.
- Interact with production supervisor and line assemblers on any issues that may arise.
- Work overtime when needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
Lex Machine Operators in 5 Axis have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:- 2+ years of 3-Axis / 5-Axis router experience
- High school diploma or GED or any other equivalent diploma needs to have at least 2 years of more experience working in a production department (Electrical parts experience is preferable)
- Knowledge of ENROUTE – Software is a plus
- Thorough understanding and experience in Bills of Materials, routings, cycle count, the function of inventory control and order processing
- Ability to problem solve when the machine is not at peak performance, and to develop ways to increase output and/or fix errors.
- An understanding of and the ability to operate the computer program that controls the 5-Axis machine operations as well as an ability to work with CAD/CAM technology is needed.
- Effective organizational skills with a strong attention to detail

- Experience in adapting to changes in the work environment
- Ability to work in fast paced environment is necessary.
