Job Title: 5 Axis Router Machine Operator Department: 11 Forest Parkway– Lex East

Shift Hours: (7:00am – 3:30pm), Mon - Friday (with possible overtime & weekend work)

Summary:

The primary duties of the 5-Axis machine operator are to program, set up, load, unload, run, and maintain the machine. The Machine Operator - 5-Axis Router ensures the machine is properly set up, operating efficiently, and at full capacity. The operator oversees adjustments to maintain product quality and meet order specifications. Additionally, the operator ensures the operation is stocked with needed materials and that the machine is well-maintained through good housekeeping and periodic quality checks.

Responsibilities:
  1. Set up and operate the 5–Axis CNC router (MultiCAM) daily.
  2. Ensure correct product placement for production schedules.
  3. Work with computer-controlled equipment to ensure proper setup, operation, and quality output.
  4. Create and modify CNC programs based on drawings.
  5. Read and interpret drawings and 3D models.
  6. Route rubber boxes through their production cycle.
  7. Clean and debur rubber boxes for production.
  8. Operate a chop saw to adjust box sizes to specifications.
  9. Operate various pneumatic and power tools.
  10. Maintain workspace cleanliness and perform preventative maintenance on the 5-Axis router and vacuum.
  11. Comply with company safety policies and OSHA standards.
  12. Maintain good attendance to ensure production efficiency.
  13. Collaborate with production supervisor to meet daily, weekly, and monthly production goals.
  14. Participate in continuous improvement projects and team initiatives related to LEAN, 5S, Scrap, Safety, and Quality.
  15. Address issues with production supervisor and line assemblers.
  16. Work overtime as needed.
  17. Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • 2+ years of experience with 3-Axis / 5-Axis routers.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; at least 2 years of experience in a production environment (electrical parts experience is preferable).
  • Knowledge of ENROUTE software is a plus.
  • Understanding of Bills of Materials, routings, cycle counts, inventory control, and order processing.
  • Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot machine performance issues and increase output.
  • Ability to operate computer programs controlling the 5-Axis machine and work with CAD/CAM technology.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain data for production strategies and goals.
  • Adaptability to changing work environments.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time effectively.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Knowledge of maintaining records for ISO, AS9100, or other quality systems.
