Job summary

Power Solutions International (PSI) is seeking a Machining Team Member at our Corporate Headquarters in Wood Dale, IL. You will prepare and machine engine blocks and heads to engineering drawings, using CNC machines and inspecting parts.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, NIMS certification, and experience with CNC machining or high-volume manufacturing. Proficiency with metric and English measurements, micrometers and calipers is expected. We offer a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; ability to read and apply drawings and diagrams
• NIMS certification or equivalent; may substitute for direct applicable experience
• Demonstrated proficiency in CNC machining, automotive assembly, and/or high-volume manufacturing
• Know-how of metric and English measurement systems and ability to convert measurements
• Ability to use micrometers, calipers, and hand tools; Lean manufacturing experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machines to perform precision machining operations
• Verify finished parts against drawings and quality standards per the Control Plan
• Follow standard procedures for tool setup, process verification, and documentation
• Perform general machine maintenance per daily checklists
• Assist with lifting up to 40 pounds and team lifts for heavier items

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Machining Team Lead, the Machining Team Member is responsible for the preparation and machining of (engine) blocks and heads in conformance with engineering drawings, standardized work instructions and quality standards

Essential Responsibilities:

• Operate Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machines to ensure precision machining operations
• Monitor and verify finished parts conform to engineering drawings and quality standards per the Control Plan
• Ensure that standard procedures are followed in all aspects of work including tool setup and operation, process verification, product inspection, documentation, and material handling
• Perform general machine maintenance per Daily Maintenance Checklists
• As needed, lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds of materials to assist in production. Learn and execute team lifts for items over 40 pounds
• Adhere to all safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment and ergonomic devices and lift assists, navigating the plant with alert behavior, operating power tools and machines according to instructions, and disposing of waste properly
• All other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience including the ability to apply math (fractions, ratios, measurements) and to read, comprehend, and convert instruction manuals/diagrams
• National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) or equivalent certification; may substitute for the certificate direct applicable work experience which built competencies and subject matter expertise
• Demonstrated proficiency in CNC Machining, automotive assembly, and/or high-volume manufacturing; may substitute for the certificate direct applicable work experience which built competencies and subject matter expertise
• Working knowledge of Metric and English measurement systems with the ability to perform conversions
• Ability to use micrometers, calipers, attribute/variable gages, and hand tools
• Experience using or knowledge of Lean manufacturing preferred
