About the Position

We are hiring a Machine Operator in the Fill area at SPX. You will set up and operate various machines to fabricate metallic parts, contributing to our manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  1. Design and develop tools, jigs, and fixtures used in production.
  2. Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions and setup requirements.
  3. Measure and mark dimensions on materials or workpieces.
  4. Select and secure fixtures, tools, and materials on machines.
  5. Set controls for machining factors like speed and feed.
  6. Monitor machine operation, detect malfunctions, and make adjustments.
  7. Verify finished workpieces meet specifications.
  8. Perform trial runs and verify machine settings.
  9. Assemble parts into complete units.
  10. Verify assembly dimensions and alignment.
  11. Install and test replacement parts and mechanisms.
  12. Operate welding equipment as needed.
  13. Develop specifications and sketches for fabrication.
  14. Collaborate with engineers and production staff to resolve issues.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 1 to 3 months of related experience or training.

Preferred:

  • Completion of machinist courses at an accredited technical school, including passing a written test.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Physical ability to stand, handle tools, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform visual inspections.
  • Exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, and loud environments.
