Job Description

The Line Operator I will operate machinery such as filling equipment, cappers, labelers, sealers, and related equipment to meet customer order-driven production schedules. Responsibilities include operating, repairing, and overhauling mechanical equipment, supervising machine operation, and ensuring safety by following GMP, Safety, Regulatory, and Stratas Foods procedures and policies.

Responsibilities

• Follow GMPs and safety guidelines, wear PPE, and adhere to all safety rules.
• Determine machine adjustments based on product specifications and material requirements.
• Set stops or guides to specified lengths using scales, rules, or templates.
• Observe machine operation, detect product defects or malfunctions.
• Identify mechanical issues to prevent breakdowns or downtime, report to supervisor, and record downtime reasons in CDC system.
• Stop and reset equipment during malfunctions, clear jams, and report issues.
• Perform periodic sample weights to ensure proper fill weight and quality standards.
• Replace and replenish containers and packaging supplies.
• Complete documentation for quality assurance.
• Perform changeovers, minor maintenance, and communicate with maintenance personnel for major repairs.
• Assist mechanics during preventive maintenance and repairs, following Lockout/Tagout procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a fast-paced, ready-to-eat food facility is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
• Ability to work well under pressure.

Additional Information

Physical: Ability to walk across the facility, climb steps/ladders, sit at a desk, and lift up to 50 lbs. in varying temperatures.

Sensory: Good hearing, sight, speech, smell, and touch are necessary for job performance.
