Description
JOB SUMMARY and KEY OBJECTIVES
As machine operator, assumes responsibility and accountability for the quality production and packaging of BBF Massachusetts LLC and private label packaged granolas, mueslis, trail mixes, and samples. Assumes responsibility and accountability for troubleshooting, daily maintenance, and cleaning of assigned packaging line. Typically works as a two-person team with an assistant therefore must communicate effectively, manage time, and coordinate activities with other team members. Assumes responsibility and accountability for achieving productivity to meet both established machine standards and customer needs, as well as, within BBF Massachusetts LLC’s Safety and Quality parameters. Assumes responsibility and accountability for performing all duties accurately and efficiently. Assumes responsibility and accountability for complying with Company and regulatory policies such as GMP’s and HACCAP.
Complies with and implements all Safe Quality Food Program procedures. Works in a team environment to relate and communicate effectively within the context of BBF Massachusetts LLC culture and values.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Lead the packaging of granolas, mueslis and other products according to weekly flow chart by monitoring and adjusting the functions of net-weight, portable scale, metal detector, date coder, label applicator(s), conveyors, and mixer according to established procedure in order to ensure their safe and efficient operation.
a. Change film, label pads, stock, and date coder plates and ribbons when necessary.
b. Set and adjust film, target weights, date coder printers, sealing temperatures, and deflators, using established specifications.
c. Ensure use of proper date code and label on bag and carton.
2. Perform all calibration and required tests necessary to ensure that equipment is functioning as desired.
3. Troubleshoot to return machine to working order and collaborates with Maintenance Technician if the problem requires guidance or assistance.
4. Comply with written and expressed policies regarding safe operation of all tools and equipment to achieve elimination of at-fault injuries.
5. Document functioning of equipment productivity by recording applicable information.

Manufacturing
1. Using appropriate recipes perform tasks as trained to manufacture and mix the scheduled granolas, cereals, and trail mixes following the weekly Flow Chart.
2. Accurately and efficiently follow all written or stated SOPs to ensure quality production of all products.
3. Ensure the efficient flow of raw materials through the production process by maintaining the clean and orderly state of both the packaging area and the warehouse.
a. Assure appropriate retains are taken, labeled, and stored properly.
b. Effectively manage storage and use of work in process.
c. Document use of ingredients by recording applicable information in a timely manner.
d. Actively research is the root cause of results not considered typical.
Sanitation
1. Clean the production facility according to the Master Sanitation schedule and guiding SOPs.
2. Required to perform the sanitation process steps of:
3. Perform sanitation with use of power washers and other sanitation equipment as directed by their shift supervisor who will act as their sanitation supervisor. Individual personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided by BBF MASSACHUSETTS LLC.
General 1. Respond promptly to spills in order to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the kitchen and warehouse.
2. Report immediately any quality defects, and submits questions, concerns, or suggestions about the safety of the work environment or quality of the product.
3. Follow all procedures for pest control and maintains active vigilance and awareness of infestation issues. Performs basic preventative maintenance as directed by Maintenance Technician.
4. Communicate effectively with team members, production management team, and across shifts. Submits questions, concerns, or suggestions about the safety of the work environment or quality of the product.
5. Support and promote company values through personal interactions and communications.
6. Complete incident report and assure timely communication of these issues to Supervisor or management team.
Communication & Teamwork:

4. Perform off-line secondary packaging as required. Assist with other operations tasks as dictated by schedule needs.

Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements:
Including but not limited High School diploma or GED. Must have previous machine operation experience and mechanical skills to perform the required duties. Must be able to use a calculator and be proficient in basic math functions such as addition, multiplication, division, and calculating percentages. Must be able to speak, read, write, and follow instructions in English. Must have the ability to manage time and work independently. Must be able to pay attention to detail, follow procedures, and problem solve. Must be reliable and have the flexibility to work occasional Saturdays or unscheduled shifts.
Physical Demands/Conditions Requirements:
Environment: Production, warehouse, and office areas, movement throughout the facility.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 50-pound bags to shoulder height and carry them, short distances continuously over the course of an eight-hour shift. 90% of the scheduled work time is spent standing. Walking, stooping, lifting, sitting, standing, reaching, repetitive movements, kneeling, and crouching as needed to perform the job. Must have ability to work in seasonal temperature variances in unheated and non-air-conditioned areas of the plant.
Equipment Used: Including but not limited to the following: FF&S and or Pouch, net weigher, label applicator, metal detector, ribbon mixers, conveyor augers, column lifts, carton erector, pallet movers, and digital scales.

2nd Shift is Monday - Friday 2:45 PM - 11:20 PM, with occasional overtime. The starting pay rate is $21.25 plus .75 shift differential DOE.
