Machine Operator (2nd Shift)

Location: US-OH-Fairfield

Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Machine Operator (2nd shift) to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Machining position performs a variety of routine and non-routine machining assignments within the assigned department, ensuring timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The operator must be proficient in core business skills, including compliance with safety rules, the code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Using cutting equipment to prepare specimens for testing as dictated in customer specifications
• Maintain equipment and schedule preventative maintenance
• Receive guidance from Department Manager, Machinist/Senior Machinist coworkers
• Gather and record dimensions in accordance with quality assurance requirements

Skills / Qualifications

• Knowledge of laboratory safety and machine shop safety protocols
• HS diploma or GED preferred
• Understanding of machining concepts, measuring instruments, and dimensional concepts
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to apply machining concepts of basic algebra and geometry is a plus

Physical Demands

• Moderate physical force required
• Lifting less than 50 lbs often, more than 50 lbs on occasion
• Ability to stand for long periods (up to 4 hours)
