Job description

Join to apply for the Machine Operator 2nd Shift role at Fresh Express.

Shift Timing: 2nd Shift, 4:15 pm - Until

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Ensure regular and reliable attendance.
2. Follow SOPs, GMPs, safety, and company policies.
3. Inspect equipment settings for codes, dates, leaks, oxygen levels, and seals.
4. Complete safety, food safety, production, and maintenance documentation.
5. Participate in process improvements and new product testing.
6. Report equipment malfunctions and unsafe conditions immediately.
7. Support and operate assigned packaging machines independently.
8. Execute changeovers and ensure correct date coding and labeling.
9. Prepare supplies for upcoming production runs.
10. Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment.
11. Assist in line operations as needed, including packing, palletizing, and rework.
12. Support team members and contribute to team goals.
13. Set up machines for startup and during production.
14. Work cooperatively with process owners to maintain quality standards.
15. Adjust machines to meet performance expectations.
16. Perform other tasks such as housekeeping and general labor activities as assigned.
17. Support cross-training and team coverage.
18. Pass annual Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) training and support machinery lockout procedures.
19. Opportunity to advance to Machine Operator II after 1 year of experience.

Minimum Qualifications/Skills

1. Basic mechanical troubleshooting and math skills.
2. Proficiency in tracking downtime and performance indicators.
3. Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively.
4. Adherence to GMPs and PPE requirements.
5. Ability to lift 75 pounds repeatedly and perform physical tasks such as standing, pushing, pulling, twisting, and climbing.
6. Work in a noisy, cold, and wet environment.
7. Availability to work 6+ days including overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays.
8. Pass a math aptitude test and physical strength examination.
9. Repetitive hand-eye coordination skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a similar temperature and strenuous environment.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Experience & Education

• Previous experience operating food processing or related equipment.
• High School diploma or GED; technical or vocational training preferred.
