Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Manufacturing Operator to operate and maintain filling and packaging equipment on site in Birmingham, AL. You will support GMPs, quality records, and safety while ensuring equipment runs reliably and efficiently.

The role requires basic mechanical aptitude, ability to perform routine PMs, and to assist in training production staff. Candidates must adhere to FSMA and SQF guidelines in daily operations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain filling and packaging equipment to meet internal and external requirements.
• Complete daily and weekly PMs and make necessary machine adjustments.
• Perform minor mechanical repairs and replace defective parts as needed.
• Troubleshoot issues via HMI and adjust equipment accordingly.
• Maintain production and quality records and ensure a safe, clean work area.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain manufacturing equipment at a standard that meets or exceeds all internal and external customer requirements.
• Responsible for operating the filling and/or packaging equipment.
• Duties may include completing daily and weekly PMs, adjusting and aligning all primary functions of the machinery.
• Responsible for making minor mechanical repairs and replacement of certain defective parts.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the filler and packing functions of the machine and have the ability to troubleshoot issues and make necessary adjustments in the HMI.
• Maintain daily production and quality records, operate the equipment safely, and keep the work area clean.
• Assist in the training of production assistants to ensure quality parameters are adhered to, and GMPs and safety rules are followed.
• Ability to train and evaluate trainees.
• Installing and maintaining all information in the product library.
• Perform sanitation of filling line equipment including operating the C.I.P. circuits, mixing chemicals in the correct proportions following all safety requirements and wearing all required PPE.
• Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Thorough knowledge of filling and packaging equipment.
• Good mechanical ability including the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical abnormalities and to set up and maintain machinery making routine adjustments.

Demonstrates expertise in operating and maintaining filling and packaging equipment while adhering to food safety policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Capable of training and evaluating production assistants to ensure compliance with quality parameters and safety regulations.
