Job Description

Avery Dennison Reflective Solutions is looking for a Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team at our Mt. Prospect, IL plant.

The Machine Operator may be assigned to the embossing, sealing, or inspection departments as required to support the needs of the business. In this role, you will be assigned to one of three shifts (1st Shift, 2nd Shift, or 3rd Shift). The shift schedules are Monday-Friday and the hours for each are as follows: 1st Shift 7:00am-3:30pm, 2nd Shift 3:00pm-11:30pm, 3rd Shift 11:00pm-7:30am. Training for this position will take place on 1st Shift. You must be able to complete your training on 1st Shift before moving to 2nd Shift or 3rd Shift. Overtime opportunities are regularly available, depending on the needs of the business. This position pays $21.58 per hour, with an additional $2 per hour for off-shift work.

Activities and duties may vary depending on site-specific needs and daily work assignments. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform the Six Sigma starting procedures.
  • Read photometric samples.
  • Wash and lubricate belts.
  • Create shop packets.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, efficient and productive workplace.
  • Maintain utilization and minimize downtime, within departmental guidelines.
  • Make decisions regarding quality issues.
  • Utilize continuous monitoring devices and other measuring equipment regularly.
  • Maintain accurate paperwork for the production lot, including Q.C. data and inventory information.
  • Perform additional duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience required.
  • General knowledge and ability to work with computers and programs (Excel, Word, Email, MFGPRO).
  • Able to work with others in a team environment.
  • Basic reading, writing and mathematical skills are required.
  • Regard safety as a core value; must serve as role model for other employees and encourage adherence to safety practices, policies and procedures.
  • Be able to actively contribute in a team-based environment. Encourage open communication and positive interaction with peers and management to effectively reach a common goal.
  • Have a strong service and quality focus, be able to address issues effectively when problems arise and take initiative to understand the root cause. Communicate / educate the team in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in essential tasks of the job and a willingness to learn and share knowledge; must take initiative to cross-train and sustain acquired skills.
  • Have demonstrated a record of flexibility and dependability in order to support production and customer focus.
  • Have a strong detail orientation and be able to follow written and oral instruction.
  • Be able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience working off-shift hours.
  • Desire to work overtime.
  • Safety conscious.
Additional Information

Physical Requirements:

Movement: May require the ability to stand/walk for up to 80% of your shift, with frequent pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and squatting 50% of the time.

Lifting: May require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds for up to 50% of your shift.

Environment: May require being comfortable working in an environment with varying temperatures and humidity.
