Job summary

Parker Aerospace is hiring a Machine Operator 2 in Airway Heights, WA to set up and operate machine tools for aerospace hardware. You will read plans, follow drawings, and use precision instruments to verify tolerances in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Reads and understands manufacturing planning, sketches, blueprints, and specifications.
  • 1–2 years CNC experience; familiarity with sheet metal forming and alloys helpful.
  • Basic GD&T knowledge; able to interpret tolerances and drawings.

  • Set up, adjust and operate engine lathes, milling machines and other tools.
  • Perform defined setups and non-complex operations on production hardware.
  • Check part tolerances with precision instruments and document results.

Machine Operator 2

Uses basic and some advanced processes to set up, adjust, and operate various machine tools to form and/or machine aerospace quality detail hardware.

Functions And Responsibilities
  • Perform defined setups and non-complex operations using engine lathes, milling machines, punch press, forming press, shear, press brake, expander and/or other machinery on production hardware.
  • Detect faulty processes and help provide input for their resolution.
  • Interpret and follow written instructions, sketches, drawings and documents.
  • Use precision instruments to check tolerances and quality of parts.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper documentation is entered on manufacturing planning (including correct quantities) and paperless timecard system.
  • Able to work with others to develop new jobs.
  • May train others on basic operations.
  • Work under limited oversight
Skills And Experience
  • Reads and understands manufacturing planning, sketches, blueprints, and specifications as necessary to perform the job function.
  • One to two years CNC experience and familiarity with sheet metal forming, nickel based alloys and titanium helpful.
  • Knows when to stop and ask for clarification.
  • Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Knows where to find this information at Exotic, and asks for help when necessary.
  • Understand proper setup and use of tooling associated with machines.
  • Requires familiarity with machine tools, precision instruments and good manual dexterity.
  • Required to perform shop mathematics associated with machining operations.
  • Has a demonstrated expertise in multiple machine tools which may involve multiple machine processes.
Working Conditions
  • Demonstrate proper and safe operation of equipment, and personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses/full face shield, hearing protection, heat reflective body garments and gloves as required.
Physical Requirements
  • The machine operator performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and frequent movement of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing and handling of material.
Conditions of Employment

This position is subject to meeting U.S. export compliance and/or U.S. Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements.

Competitive Compensation

  • Pay Range: $23.5/hr to $37.1/hr
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
