APMEX, Inc. in Edmond/North OKC is seeking a 1st shift Machine Operator to run extrusion/press equipment in a climate-controlled environment. Daily safety checks, high-temperature material handling, and efficient setup are core parts of the role.

The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma or equivalent and 1–2 years of production experience, with the ability to read drawings and use measurement tools. Excellent benefits accompany this position.

Responsibilities

  • Adjust, calibrate, and test equipment at the start of each shift to ensure proper pressure, speed, temperature, and operation.
  • Examine visually, weigh, and measure components to ensure machines produce per standards and adjust as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members, maintenance, and leaders to address any issues quickly and correctly.
  • Communicate clearly with the next shift to ensure a smooth handoff.
  • Maintain and clean equipment using approved solutions, grease guns, oil cans, air hoses and rags.
  • Select and install cutters, molds, and parts; perform die changes as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace and follow safety protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

1st Shift Hours: 9:30 am- 6:00 pm Monday-Friday
This position is located in Edmond/North OKC
  • Hours are subject to change based on business needs
A Day In The Life Of a Machine Operator
  • Adjust, calibrate, and test equipment at the beginning of every shift to ensure proper pressure, speed, temperature, and general operation
  • Examine visually, weigh, and measure components created from equipment to ensure machines are producing according to company and industry regulations and standards, adjusting as needed
  • Work with team members, maintenance personnel, and leaders to ensure any complications are dealt with quickly and correctly
  • Communicate with fellow team members to learn of any equipment problems or malfunctions and take care of them as they come up
  • Maintain and clean equipment using regulated cleaning solutions, grease guns, oil cans, air hoses, and cleaning cloths
  • Choose and install cutters, molds, and all other necessary equipment parts so machines are always operating at peak efficiency – This includes changing dies
  • Communicate clearly and accurately to the following shift to ensure a smooth handoff
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace
  • Other duties as necessary

The Machine Operators are responsible for safely running the various machines throughout the facility. This includes daily safety checks, monitoring the heating and loading of billets into the press, monitoring the material as it is extruded for consistency, and the ability to perform hot die changes. This machine operator could require the employee to constantly lift 35lb billets and be exposed to high temperatures, this operator will also be required to wear heat-reflective Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the duration of the shift.

Qualifications
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience
  • 1-2 years of experience in a production environment is preferred
  • Experience operating an extrusion press or operating similar machinery is preferred
  • Ability to read drawings and measurement equipment is required
Computer Skills
  • Basic use of Microsoft Office preferred

  • Comfortable doing hot work and being consistently exposed to high temperatures
  • Knowledge of safe workplace practices in a manufacturing environment
