Job Description

The Machine Operator will operate machines such as filling equipment, cappers, labelers, sealers, and other related equipment to meet customer order driven production schedule. The role includes operating, repairing, and overhauling mechanical equipment, supervising machine operation, and maintaining safety as a primary objective while following established GMP, Safety, Regulatory, and AAK Foodservices procedures and policies.

Responsibilities

• Must follow GMP’s and safety guidelines and wear PPE and adhere to all safety rules.
• Determine machine adjustments based on product specifications and material requirements.
• Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
• Observe machine operation and detect product defects and/or machine malfunctions.
• Actively identify mechanical issues that could lead to machine breakdown or downtime, report to supervisor, and work to reduce downtime.
• Record reasons for downtime in the CDC system.
• Stop and reset equipment when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report impairments to the Production Supervisor.
• Perform periodic product sample weights to ensure proper fill weight and ensure quality and conformity of filled products against customer standards.
• Replace and replenish containers of product to be filled and packaging supplies such as film, laminate, and mount rolls on spindles.
• Complete documentation required for product quality assurance.
• Perform changeovers and minor machine maintenance and adjustments as required, and communicate with maintenance personnel when maintenance requirements are more significant.
• Provide assistance to mechanics during preventative maintenance and machine service or repairs following proper Lockout/Tag out procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience operating in a fast‑paced, ready‑to‑eat food facility is a plus.
• Ability to be self‑guided and motivated to operate independently.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Relevant Experience: Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment.

Additional Information

• Physical: Ability to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time while performing job duties. Must be capable of working in confined spaces and at heights, bending, kneeling, and be able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and wear a respirator.
• Sensory: Ability to hear, see, speak, smell, and touch well is necessary to perform basic essential tasks.
