Job Description

The Machine Operator will operate machines such as filling equipment, cappers, labelers, sealers, and other related equipment to meet a customer order‑driven production schedule. To perform duties in operating, repairing, and overhauling mechanical equipment. Supervise the operation of machines and equipment. This operation is performed keeping safety as the primary objective and following established GMP, Safety, Regulatory and AAK Foodservices procedures and policies.

Responsibilities
  • Must follow GMPs and safety guidelines, wear PPE and adhere to all safety rules.
  • Determine machine adjustments based on product specifications and material requirements.
  • Set stops or guides to specified lengths as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
  • Observe machine operation and detect product defects and/or machine malfunctions.
  • Actively identify mechanical issues that could lead to machine breakdown or downtime and report to supervisor to reduce downtime.
  • Record reasons for downtime in the CDC system.
  • Stop and reset equipment when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report impairments to the Production Supervisor.
  • Perform periodic product sample weights to ensure proper fill weight and ensure quality and conformity of filled products against customer standards.
  • Replace and replenish containers of product to be filled and packaging supplies such as film, laminate, and mount rolls on spindles.
  • Complete documentation required for product quality assurance.
  • Perform changeovers and minor machine maintenance and adjustments as required, and effectively communicate with maintenance personnel when maintenance requirements are more considerable.
  • Assist mechanics during preventative maintenance and machine service or repairs following proper lockout/tag‑out procedures.

Physical

Ability to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time while performing job duties. Must be capable of working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly, and must be able to wear a respirator.

Sensory

Ability to hear, see, speak, smell and touch well is necessary to perform basic essential tasks.
