The role operates on Second Shift starting at 3:00pm and a third shift starting at 10:00pm. The position requires forklift/crane operation certification where applicable, ability to read instructions and measurements, and basic math.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Safe and efficient machine operation with knowledge of maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Operate material handling equipment including forklift and overhead crane.
  • Interpret work orders, drawings, and files accurately for correct materials and quantities.
  • Fill customer orders accurately and ensure proper dimensions within tolerance.
  • Accurately use measuring tools and maintain calibration.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and data entry in the system.
  • Keep proper records on work orders and receiving paperwork.
  • Follow safety, quality, and company policies; support the company vision and principles.
  • Restock material and may drive local deliveries in some cases.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Job Summary

Perform daily plant activities to effectively and safely fill and load the customer’s orders including, but not limited to: warehousing, material processing, handling, packaging, loading, processing appropriate paperwork, and performing computer transactions as needed. Required work schedule Second Shift starring at 3:00pm and third shift starting at 10:00pm.

Job Function
  • Safe and efficient machine operation. This entails thorough knowledge of machine operation, routine preventative maintenance, trouble shooting, and recognition of mechanical problems.
  • Safe and efficient use of material handling equipment to include, but not limited to: forklift, overhead crane, pry bar, spreader bar, chop saw, nail gun, hammer, chains/slings, cables, manual or pneumatic crimper, dogs, sheet loader or computer where they are designed to function. This entails thorough knowledge of equipment operation, load limits, routine preventative maintenance, and recognition of mechanical problems.
  • Accurate interpretation of all relevant information on work orders, drawings or files. This includes product information, order due date, and special instructions. Special instructions may include, but are not limited to: mill certifications, packaging and marking requirements, or product preferences (e.g. specific surface characteristics, specific vendor, specific chemical content, tag, etc).
  • Filling customer orders accurately. This entails insuring the correct material is used, the correct quantity is supplied, and the dimensions are within tolerance.
  • Accurate use of measuring equipment including, but not limited to: tape measures, calipers, squares, and micrometers. This entails reading the measurements correctly, maintaining the calibration, and recognizing when the tools may be out of calibration. Follow any necessary calibration procedures and documentation.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy. This entails accurate data entry into the STELplan system, accurate piece counts when filling orders, maintenance of material tagging, and accounting for scrap and damage.
  • Maintain accurate records. This includes making proper and legible notations on work orders, manifests and receiving paperwork, etc.
  • Follow all documented company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety and operations.
  • Conduct behavior within the guidelines of the Company Vision, Beliefs and Principles.
  • Restocks material.
  • May occasionally drive motor vehicle (non-DOT truck) for local deliveries and parts pick-ups.
  • Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.
Required Skills
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
  • High School diploma/GED preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a certification to operate all required motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations required.
  • Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations correctly required.
  • Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions required.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, and judgment required.
  • The following certifications may be required: forklift and crane
  • Measurement tools and computerized controls - working knowledge or the ability to learn within the training period as outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors and co-workers required.
Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $21.00/Hr. - USD $27.00/Hr. depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
