Job summary

Total Talent Solutions is now hiring for a Machine Operator in Wytheville, VA. This role pays $18.50 per hour with a Monday-Friday schedule from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM and overtime as needed. Training on days for two weeks is provided, with a focus on safe, efficient manufacturing operations.

The position involves operating presses, monitoring quality, and maintaining production records in a fast-paced environment. Pre-employment testing and basic math skills are required for consideration.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate compression presses to produce molded rubber parts.
  • Inspect molded parts for defects according to quality standards.
  • Load materials into molds and begin cure cycles.
  • Unload cured parts from presses and weigh/prep as needed.
  • Complete production and quality reports accurately.
  • Follow all safety procedures and standard operating instructions.

Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Technical training or manufacturing education is beneficial.
Experience Requirements
  • Previous machine operation or manufacturing experience preferred
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, safety regulations, and inspection standards
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to read measurements using a standard ruler to 1/8 inch
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment test
Job Duties
  • Operate compression presses to produce molded rubber parts
  • Spray molds with lubricant as required
  • Assemble and weigh preps according to molding specifications
  • Load materials into molds and begin cure cycles
  • Unload cured parts from presses
  • Inspect molded parts for defects according to quality standards
  • Trim, inspect, and package finished products
  • Complete production and quality reports accurately
  • Operate multiple presses and processes as needed
  • Follow all safety procedures and standard operating instructions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous machine operation, manufacturing, production, or industrial experience is preferred.
  • Experience performing machine setup, tooling changes, troubleshooting, or preventative maintenance is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, quality systems, or continuous improvement practices is considered an asset.
  • Individuals who demonstrate mechanical ability, reliability, teamwork, and a commitment to quality are well positioned for success as a Machine Operator.
Physical Capabilities
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive production tasks throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift materials, components, or finished products weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment while maintaining awareness of moving machinery.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and work safely in a manufacturing environment.

As a Machine Operator you will operate, monitor, adjust, and maintain manufacturing equipment to produce quality products according to production schedules and established procedures.
