Job summary

Amcor LLC in West Monroe, LA, seeks an Operator responsible for a machine's uptime, output, and quality, while upholding food safety and GMP standards. You will manage safety, scrap reduction, and data accuracy across production.

You will mentor teammates, train staff on operating procedures, participate in 5S and continuous improvement initiatives, perform troubleshooting, and ensure accurate packaging and documentation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years manufacturing experience as a maintenance or production leader/operator.
  • Must be able to read precision measuring tools and interpret basic mechanical and pneumatics schematics.
  • Must have experience using Microsoft Office and accurate data entry.
  • Must understand how to analyze data and influence effective decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Create an environment where safety, customer focus, effectiveness & efficiency can be seen in people and equipment performance.
  • Maximize equipment effectiveness and productivity and eliminate all machine losses.
  • Promote continuous improvement through small-group activities involving production, maintenance, engineering, 5S, inside and outside resources.
  • Identify and troubleshoot machine issues as needed.
  • Mentor, coach, and lead other personnel on the machine to run effectively.
  • Train coworkers on proper operating techniques, knowledge, and practices.
  • Oversee new hire training for the respective machine.
  • Maintain data accuracy of all transactions performed.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Operator has overall responsibility for their respective machine and its numbers, including but not limited to uptime/downtime, product scrap, output, and efficiency through exercising good manufacturing practices and identifying areas of opportunity for continuous improvement, all while maintaining all safety standards and expectations relating to their job and machine. This person must always act within food safety and GMP guidelines.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

  • Practice good housekeeping – including sweeping, dusting, wiping of tables, etc.
  • Actively participate in all required trainings including but not limited to safety and technical trainings.
  • Inspect product at required frequency.
  • Package all goods produced.
  • Trim and ensure accuracy of all goods produced.
  • Maintain data accuracy of all transactions performed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and work at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent exposure to a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Potential contact with chemicals and cleaning supplies, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Operators must maneuver around and inside small areas to make machine adjustments during setups, changeovers, and troubleshooting.
